The Banaskantha police in Gujarat, India, has arrested a Nigerian national identified as Nwakaego Paul and seized a substantial quantity of methamphetamine, a prohibited ps¥chôtropic substance, valued at Rs 4.26 crore.
Banaskantha district’s superintendent of police, Akshayraj Makwana, in a statement on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, said that the accused, who resided in Delhi, was reportedly en route to Mumbai to deliver the contraband.
The arrest occurred during a late-night interception on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, when Paul was travelling aboard a private luxury bus.
Acting on credible intelligence, the police halted the bus at the Amirgadh check-post as it entered the district from Rajasthan.
During the search, law enforcement discovered 4.26kg of methamphetamine in her possession.
Makwana stated that the accused had procured the dr¥gs from an undisclosed source in Delhi. Further investigations are underway to uncover her connections and the dr¥g’s origin.
The police investigation has revealed that Nwakaego Paul arrived in India in 2021 on a two-month visa and had been residing in the Deepak Vihar area of Delhi.
