A 400-level student in the Department of Petrochemical Engineering of the University of Port Harcourt, Demian Okoligwe, has been paraded by the Rivers State Police command for allegedly k#lling and di§m£mbering the body of his girlfriend, Justina Otuene.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka, who paraded the suspect, said Okoligwe, had invited his lover, Otuene, a 300-level student of the same university, to his house, where he k#lled her and h@rvested her organs.
Narrating how the arrest unfolded, he said: “On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at about 3:30 pm, operatives of Ozuoba Division received a complaint from a Good Samaritan and neighbour (name withheld) of Road 20 at the back of NTA Ozuoba. He reported that he went to his house and perceived a very bad odour from the direction of the room where one Damian Okoligwe, a fellow tenant, lives.”
The DPO of the station led detectives to the scene and, on arrival, forced the door open to discover a ghana-must-go bag containing a lifel£ss body. The fleeing suspect was subsequently traced and arrested for an inquiry. The lifel£ss body of Justina Otuene, a 20-year-old Biochemistry 300-level UNIPORT student, was recovered and deposited at the mortuary. A preliminary investigation is in progress. The case has been transferred to the state CID for discreet investigation,” he said.
However, Damian during interrogation, denied k#lling his girlfriend claiming he came home to her di§membered body. Upon questioning by the Police on why he didn’t report the m¥rder, he claimed he was sick and had gone to a pharmacy to receive treatment. Even though Damian stays alone, he insists he didn’t have a hand in her d£ath.
