OAP Dotun’s estranged wife, Taiwo, ri§ks jail term as court finds her guilty of contempt

Popular OAP, Dotun Kayode’s ex-wife and pop star, Dapo DBanj Oyebanjo’s younger sister, Taiwo Oyebanjo, was on Monday, October 23, found guilty of contempt of court and may be committed to prison, in a divorce suit she filed in Abuja.

A high court sitting in Dukpa, Abuja declared Taiwo Oyebanjo, culpable of contravening the order of the court involving the shared custody of the couple’s children.

It will be recalled that in suit No. GWD/ PET/25/21 the court granted Dotun and his estranged wife divided custody of the kids after Dotun applied for it in April 2022 and both parties initially complied.

Contrary to the Order of the Court, Taiwo denied her estranged husband access to their children since December 2022 without any valid reason. As a result, Dotun sought legal redress and, ultimately resulted in a full-blown and h£at£d social media exchange between the couple in recent times.

Delivering the judgment in the contempt proceedings against Taiwo Oyebanjo, the court ruled and found Taiwo guilty of disobeying the order of the court, declaring that her refusal to allow Dotun Kayode access and custody of the children in December 2022 was disobedience to the Order of the Court and ordered that she pays the sum of N200,000 within 30days or risk jail term until the fine is paid.

A mild drama reportedly almost ensued after the judgment against Dotun’s estranged wife was delivered as her lawyers attempted to withdraw their representation on her behalf but the matter was adjourned to 11th December for trial. There are reports that Taiwo, who was absent in court, may have allegedly flown the children out of Nigeria since June 2023.
