Residents left stranded as New Artisan bridge coll@pses in Enugu

On Monday morning, an overhead bridge at the New Artisan Market intersection in the Enugu State Capital collapsed.

The Nigerian Tribune noted that the bridge’s debris had closed one lane of the Enugu-Port Harcourt dual highway, requiring drivers to take detours or find alternate routes in order to complete their trip.

It was discovered that two trucks—one completely laden and the other unidentified—were on the bridge when it collapsed unexpectedly.

Security personnel, representatives from the federal and state ministries of works, the federal road maintenance agency, and the federal road safety commission (FRSC) were seen in the region to examine the situation and help the motorists using the detours.

Regular bridge users, including those from Goshen Estate, Premier Layout, the Dunamis Church, and the New Artisan Market, are expected to experience severe traffic congestion as a result of the fallen bridge if an alternate route is not immediately established.
