The moment Kim Jong Un’s security aides thoroughly examined his chair before his meeting with Vladimir Putin

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Wednesday showed that he doesn’t fully trust his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, as a pair of his flunkies were seen carrying out rigorous checks on his chair ahead of their much-anticipated meeting in Russia, Daily Mail is reporting.

In a viral video, a man in white gloves and a dark suit can be seen wiping down the black chair with a white cloth before the two leaders sat down for the meeting. The flustered man thoroughly cleaned the seat itself, the back of the chair and the armrests, and was supported in his efforts by two other North Korean officials who stood behind him with more cleaning supplies if required.

After making sure the seat was clean, a second official – a man dressed identically to the first – then tested if the chair was strong enough to bear his supreme leader’s weight, which is said to be around 300lbs. The first man then appeared to scan the chair with a device which looked to be a small metal detector, seemingly checking it for booby traps.

During the checks, a third North Korean official was also on hand to assist, and appeared to direct the men as they were testing its weight. A fourth person, who looked to be Russian, watched on closely, peering over the shoulder of one of the North Korean officials. One of the North Korean security flunkies also appears reluctant to let a Putin guard be the last man close to the chair before Kim sat in it.

It was unclear why the men were ordered to clean the chair down so thoroughly, or what they were checking for with the device. But Putin’s hit squads are reportedly also known to use d£adly agents Novichok and Polonium 210 to pö#§on enemies or discarded friends.
