Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the wife of the Lagos state governor, has spoken on the death of lat£ Vwaere Diaso, the lat£ medical doctor, saying “An arr@w has been fir£d into the health family”.
On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, Diaso di£d after an elevator at the General Hospital, Lagos Island, which she was in, fell from the 10th floor.
The doctor’s d£mis£ has continued to attract a chorus of condemnation on social media platforms, with many Nigerians accusing the hospital’s management of negligence.
The elevator was said to have had faults which staff had frequently complained about to no avail.
However, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, the governor’s wife, while addressing the media, implied that the incident was caused by a “spiritual att@ck” against the health sector.
In a now-viral video, Ibijoke also linked the incident to the jet acc#d£nt that occurred in the state on Tuesday while seeking answers from the crowd.
“An arr@w has been fired into the health family. First of August is a day I will never forget,” she said.
In 2020, the medical guild had drawn the attention of the state government to the non-functional elevator.
“The doctors’ quarters at General Hospital Lagos has 10 floors. It has a non-functional elevator and no running water. Are we going to wait till someone dies before things are done properly?” the guild wrote on Twitter.
