President Bola Tinubu, who doubles as Chairman of ECOWAS has warned Nigerien soldiers to seize fir£ & release president Mohamed Bazoum immediately & without condition.
The soldiers in the early hours of Thursday, July 27 announced a coup on national TV over what they claim as “continuing det£rior@tion of the security situation & poor economic & social governance.”
President Bola Tinubu in a statement said ECOWAS would not tolerate actions that incapacitate democratically-elected government in the sub-region.
“Information filtering in from the Republic of Niger indicates some unpleasant developments around the country’s highest political leadership.
It should be quite clear to all players in the Republic of Niger that the leadership of the ECOWAS Region & all lovers of democracy around the world will not tolerate any situation that incapacitates the democratically-elected government of the country.
