The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a notorious dr¥g kingpin, Charles Uwagbale , 48, who specializes in sponsoring young Nigerians to traffic Class A dr¥gs to Europe especially Italy.
He was arrested by the operatives after they stormed his hotel room in Okota area of Lagos late on Friday, July 21, when he was preparing a recruited courier to swallow 93 p£llets of c+c@ine meant for distribution in Italy.
This was revealed in a statement signed by the agnecy’s Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Femi noted that the suspect recruited Uju Dominic, 35, from his base in Italy with a deal to come to Nigeria, to ingest 100 p£llets of c+caine on Friday and return to Italy on Saturday, July 22.
True to plan, upon the arrival in Nigeria, the mul£ was lodged in Golden Heaven Hotel located at Enoma street off Ago-Palace way, Okota, Isolo, Lagos where Uwagbale brought 93 wraps of the Class A dr¥gs for him to sw@llow at about 23:45pm on Friday night.
They were in the process when NDLEA operatives who have been on their trail following credible intelligence stormed their hotel room, arrested both suspects and recovered the dr¥gs exhibits with a total weight of 1.427 kilograms.
The NDLEA spokesman added that operatives of the Lagos state Command of the Agency who made the arrest and seizure, had on Thursday, July 20, raided Akala in Mushin area of the state where they recovered 37.5kg cann@bis from the home of a fleeing suspect.
