Fuel Subsidy Removal: Reps approve Pres. Tinubu’s N500bn request for palliatives

The House of Representatives has approved the N500 billion requested by President Bola Tinubu for the provision of palliatives to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians.

Recall that Tinubu had in a letter on Wednesday, July 12, asked the National Assembly to amend the 2022 Supplementary Appropriations Act by extracting N500 billion to provide palliatives.

The House considered the amendment bill and passed it on Thursday, July 13.

The sum is to be extracted from the N819 billion Supplementary Appropriation Act.
