Puerto Rican singer and actor, Ricky Martin and his husband, Jwan Yosef, have announced the end of their six years old marriage.
The Livin’ La Vida Loca hitmaker, 51, the Syrian-Swedish artist, 38, made the announcement in a joint statement released on Instagram.
“We have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all these wonderful years.
Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on peace and friendship to continue the joint upbringing of our children, preserving the respect and love we have for each other,” the statement reads.
Although the ex-couple didn’t state the reason for the divorce, People reports that they cited “irreconcilable differences” in a petition filed in the Superior Court of California.
Ricky and Jwan met in 2015 and got married in 2018. They’re seeking joint custody of their two children: Renn and Lucia, three and four years old respectively.
Ricky is also a dad to his 14-year-old twins, Matteo and Valentino, and he’ll raise them as a single parent. He’ll pay Jwan spousal support and the division of their assets is yet to be determined.
