The Kenya Police Service is currently investigating the d£ath of a catholic priest, named Fr. Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, who passed away just hours after checking into a hotel in Murang’a County with his girlfriend.
Local news outlets report that the 43-year-old was in company of his 32-year-old girlfriend when he checked into the hotel on Friday night, July 7.
Kariuki, who was serving as a parish priest at St. Peter’s Church in Ruai, however passed away on Saturday, July 8.
According to the police, “One Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku a k/m/a aged 43yrs old, a Catholic priest at Archdiocese of Nairobi and a farmer at Mangu area checked in at the said hotel together with his girlfriend who also happens to be her colleague at the workplace in Ruai.
Around 8 am on Saturday, the lady is said to have notified the hotel’s management that Kariuki was getting dizzy and unconscious, which prompted a visit to a nearby hospital.
They then rushed him to Kenol hospital where he was pronounced d£ad on arrival while still aboard his motor vehicle Toyota Harrier black in colour.”
Police say that Fr. Karuki’s body was found half-covered with a hotel bed sheet and white foam oozed from the mouth and nose.
