Police drop m¥rder charges, release mom and son who sh%t and k#lled a man at U.S. restaurant

The m¥rder charges against Carlishia Hood, the mother seen in a video urging her 14-year-old son to sh%%t and k#ll a man at a fast food restaurant in Chicago, USA, have been dropped after further footage came to light showing the man p¥nching her.

Cook County prosecutors dropped the charges against the 35-year-old as well as her son following the d£ath of a man at a restaurant in West Pullman.

Ms Hood and her son had been charged with first-degree m¥rder following the k#lling of Jeremy Brown, 32, on June 18 at the Maxwell Street Express, a fast-food restaurant south of downtown Chicago.

She had a valid Fir£arm Owners Identification (FOID) card and she had a license to carry a concealed w£apon when the incident took place. The mother was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to CBS News Chicago.

On Monday, June 26, all the charges against both mother and son were dropped and they were released.

The office of Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx said in a statement that the decision to drop the charges was “based upon our continued review and in light of emerging evidence. Based upon the facts, evidence, and the law, we are unable to meet our burden of proof in the prosecution of these cases.”

Meanwhile, Ms Hood has filed a lawsuit against the city of Chicago and the police officers who arrested her.

Her attorneys announced the lawsuit Tuesday morning that the arrest of Hood and her son was an “obvious rush to judgment” by police.

“We do not take what happened to Ms. Hood lightly. You don’t have to be a lawyer to appreciate and recognize that when a woman is viol€ntly att@cked by a man — an unarmed woman — that she wouldn’t be arrested,” attorney Brandon Brown said during a press conference on Tuesday morning.

The lawsuit, filed on Tuesday in Cook County circuit court, accuses the city and five police officers of m@licious prosecution, false arrest and intentional infl#ction of emotional distress. Brown also said he plans to file additional lawsuits.
