“This country is not fair to some of us,” Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu says, as he weeps profusely at Senate’s valedictory session

When it was his turn to speak, Senate Whip and former governor of Abia State Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, APC, Abia North, wept as he described how he had been treated politically, particularly by those he helped found and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which he spent his money to support.

Before entering politics, Kalu, who began to cry around 1:19 p.m., claimed, “I could purchase anything money could buy. I don’t steal. Those who jailed me are aware of the cause. They took over my enterprises and tried to assassinate me, but I pulled through and now I’m here next to you in the Senate.

I brought the entire amount of money used to create the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where I served as governor for two terms, in 1997 and 1998. However, after leaving the PDP, I turned into a robber.

“People to whom I donated transportation funds from my Victoria Island home afterwards became brokers. Nigeria is a manifestation of this. Thank you for your unwavering support over the past four years. This nation is unfair.
