Graphic: The heart-wr£nching moment a man was e@ten alive by a shark at a resort in Egypt

Tourists visiting the popular Egyptian resort of Hurghada watched a man get eaten alive by a shark just feet away from a crowded beach.

According to Russian media, the victim, Vladimir Popov, 23, was a Russian citizen.
Russia’s consul-general in Hurghada, Viktor Voropayev, told the country’s TASS news agency that the d£adly att@ck happened on Thursday, June 8. “A Russian di£d as a result of the shark att@ck,” he said. He noted that Popov was not a tourist but had been living in Egypt for several months.

Pulse-po¥nding footage of the encounter shows hotel staffers screaming for swimmers to get out of the water as the shark’s fin can be seen approaching.
He can be seen desperately trying to swim towards the shore, but appears to be att@cked by the shark while still in deeper waters.

His body is seen spinning in the water, and his legs raise above the surface – as horrifi£d onlookers scream and shout for the man to swim. “Swim away, swim away! Quick! A shark!’ people can be heard shouting. The splashing in the water stops, and the man’s head returns to the surface. He appears in the video to be moving around in the water again, but only slowly. He can be heard screaming ‘Papa’, pleading for help, as some of the water turns red.

Popov can then be seen struggling with the shark before it becomes clear to all those watching that it’s a losing battle. According to reports, his father was watching on the beach at the time of the att@ck, and Popov had cried out for him as he str¥ggled to escape the shark.

Witnesses said rescuers tried to save Popov but by the time they got there, the shark had already gotten him. A woman identified in Russian media reports as Popov’s girlfriend reportedly managed to swim away and escape. Footage showed her crying hysterically on the beach as bystanders tried to comfort her.
