TASUED shut as students cl@sh with host community over the d£ath of their colleague

The Management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ogun State has shut down academic activities till further notice following a cl@sh between students and one of the host communities.

It was gathered that trouble started after a student from the Department of Social Studies, identified simply as Bayo, was allegedly att@cked by residents in Iwameje Community on Friday, May 26.

The 300-level student, suspected to be a c¥ltist, was allegedly identified and att@cked by residents after series of warnings by the community against c¥lt activities.

He was said to have been taken to a hospital but was pronounced d£ad.

Members of his group reportedly went on rampage and set abl@ze buildings belonging to the Baale of Imaweje and other houses which served as students’ hostel.

In a statement on Sunday afternoon, the Registrar of the institution, Dapo Oke said: “Following the recent cl@sh between Students and members of the University Host Community in the early hours of today, particularly, the Iwameje Community which led to the eruption of viol£nce, the University Management hereby announces the closing down of the University.

In the meantime, Parents and Guardians are hereby advised to recall their wards particularly those living in and around Iwameje back home immediately.”
