I was a§§aulted by police officers for criticising their parade of some women they labeled s+x workers in Katsina — Journalist

One Rukayya Aliyu Jibia, a female journalist has accused the men of the Katsina State Police Command of a§§aulting her over a TikTok video she made, calling on the police to desist from parading suspects before the media until they are proven g¥ilty by the court of law.

In the video, Rukayya, a correspondent at Tambarin Hausa TV, had called out the spokesperson of the State Police Command, CSP Gambo Isah, over what she described as an unfair media parade of four young women, acc¥sed of being s+x workers.

In her Tiktok video, the journalist said she is currently in hiding because her life is in d@ng£r.

“Few days back, the Katsina State Police Command paraded four young ladies, between the ages 19-23, claiming they were into prostitution.

Upon seeing that video, I recorded a video on my personal TikTok page, where I quoted a section in the Nigerian constitution, which I suggested to the police that they should have taken the girls to court until they are proven guilty before parading them before parading them before the press.

The next day, I received a call from the PPRO, inviting me to the Emir’s palace, saying that the Emir wants to see me.

I was on my way to the Emir’s palace when Gambo Isah and his boys came with four cars and blocked my way. They dragged me out of my car and they broke my phone. I sustained inj¥ry.

They dr@gged me to the Emir’s palace. Gambo Isah told the Emir that I am responsible for looking down on the police and undermining their authority, sabotaging their work,” she said.
