Bank officials k#ll debtor’s wife while attempting to recover loan

The men of the Ogun state police command have arrested four staff of a Microfinance bank situated at Abule Ijoko Lemode area of Ifo Local Government, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, over the d£ath of a 50-year-old Vivian Omo, who is wife of one of their debtors.

In a statement confirming the incident on Sunday, May 14, 2023, the Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the bank staffers were not satisfied with the claim that the man was not at home, so they tried to go away with some electronics, but the late wife resisted.

“While the deceased was struggling with the bank’s staffers, one of them p¥shed her, and she fell and was unconscious. She was then rushed to hospital for medical attention, but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” Oyeyemi said.

He added that the incident was reported at the Agbado divisional headquarters by the daughter of the deceased, after which the DPO, CSP Awoniyi Adekunle, immediately led his detectives to the scene where the bankers: Badmus Olalekan, Ajibade Oludare, Eniola Aduragbemi and Femi Oloko, were arrested. He noted that the c%rpse was deposited at the Ifo General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
