Family members has rejected the coffin brought by their son-in-law to b¥ry his mother-in-law in Benue State saying it’s too ¥gly and poor.
In Buruku, Benue state, sons of a deceased mother rejected and threw away a casket that the son-in-law had provided. The son-in-casket, law’s which was brought for the burial of his mother-in-law, was rejected by the family.
According to the TIV tradition, the first married female child is obligated to provide a coffin for the burial of any departed parents when a mother or a father passes away.
The first female child attempted to bring the casket in order to uphold tradition, together with her husband, a son-in-law of the deceased mother, but was unsuccessful.
According to the deceased’s family, the casked is unsightly and inadequate for burying a member of their family.
