The Lagos State Government on Monday, March 20, arraigned embattled auto dealer, Ikechukwu Ogbonna better known as IVD, before an Ikeja High Court over alleged involuntary mansl@ughter of his wife Abimbola.
The 37-year-old defendant was arraigned on one count of involuntary mansl@ughter in suit No LD/21055C/23. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
It would be recalled that IVD and Abimbola were married for 16 years with the union blessed with five children. The marriage, however, was filled with disagreement and alleged domestic vi#lence.
On October 12, 2022, there was a f#re incident at their Lekki home as Abimbola was caught in the inferno. She was rushed to a hospital where she di£d on October 12, as a result of the inj¥ries she sustained.
The prosecuting counsel, Adeshola Bello, said the alleged offence committed contravened Section 229 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Consequently, Justice Nicole-Clay adjourned the case till March 30, May 24 and 25, 2023, for the commencement of trial.
