Eric Holder, who m¥rdered rapper Nipsey Hussle in 2019, has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.
Superior Court Judge H. Clay Jacke II handed down the sentence on Wednesday to Eric R. Holder Jr., 33, who was found guilty of the 2019 first-degree m¥rder of the 33-year-old Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist outside the clothing store Hussle founded in the South Los Angeles neighborhood where both men grew up in very similar circumstances.
“I am very mindful of what was presented as to Mr. Holder’ m£ntal health,” Jacke said. “I am also mindful of the devastation caused to the victims and their families. I believe this sentence balances the two.”
Prosecutors argued during the m¥rdee trial that the att@ck was premeditated, saying it was the culmination of a prior dispute between Holder and Hussle. Deputy District Attorney John McKinney said there was “no doubt” Holder planned to k#ll Hussle, and told the court that he sh%t the rapper at least 10 times and kick£d him in the head before fleeing the scene, according to the Associated Press.
Holder and Hussle were acquainted with each other for years prior to the fatal sh@@ting, as both grew up aspiring rappers in South Los Angeles.
Jacke sentenced Holder to 25 years to life for the m¥rder, 25 more for a firearm sentencing enhancement and 10 for a§§ault with a firearm. He set several other sentencing additions and ordered that others run concurrent. He also gave Holder credit for the nearly four years he has served since the sh@@ting.
