Just In: Protesters block Benin-Lagos expressway over scarcity of new Naira notes

Protesters has blocked the Benin-Lagos expressway over scarcity of new Naira notes.

Protesters have blocked the Benin-Lagos road to demonstrate how incensed they are about the state of the nation due to the lack of new Naira notes and the implementation that old Naira notes are no longer legally tendered.

For their nonviolent protest to be successful, the demonstrators blocked all other road users on the Benin-Lagos highway.

The Divisional Police Officer, who had come to the demonstration site to plead to them, was, however, forced away by the demonstrators. Later, as demonstrators played music to keep the demonstration lively, tires were set ablaze on the road.
