Days after the k#lling of a barrister, police redeploy personnel attached to Ajah division in Lagos

As part of steps to curb incidences of k#llings by policemen in Lagos, three-quarters of the personnel serving at the Ajah Division have been redeployed to other areas across the state.

Confirming the development, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alabi explained that the action is a routine movement and those affected are personnel who have spent over three years at the division.

He added that those affected are deployed to go and deal with the challenges in other areas and get more experience particularly as the 2023 election is approaching.

The move comes in the wake of reports of alleged extra-judicial k#llings by officers of the division. Recall that Drambi Vandi, an assistant superintendent of police attached to the Ajiwe police station, was involved in a sh@@ting incident that led to the de@th of Bolanle Raheem, a lawyer.

The sh@@ting incident occurred at the Ajah axis of Lagos. The incident sparked widespread criticism, while the Lagos state government filed a one-count charge of unlawful k#llingagainst Vandi. Subsequently, the officer was remanded at the Ikoyi correctional centre pending legal advice from the state directorate of public prosecution (DPP).

Vandi has also been suspended by the Police Service Commission (PSC). Also, on December 6, a police inspector, Imeh Johnson, attached to the same station allegedly sh%t de@d Gafaru Buraimoh, a resident of Happy Land estate in Ajah.
