A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos on Friday, December 30, remanded ASP Drambi Vandi in prison over the de@th of a pregnant lawyer, Mrs Bolanle Raheem.

The Lagos State Attorney-General, Moyosore Onigbanjo, had filed a one-count charge of m¥rder against Vandi who sh@t and k#lled the deceased on Christmas Day.

“That you ASP Drambi Vandi on the 25th day of December 2022, at Ajah Road, along the Lekki Expressway, Lagos, unlawfully k#lled one Omobolanle Raheem by sh@@ting the deceased in the chest contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015,” the charge reads.

The defendant was arraigned before Adeola Olatunbosun, the chief magistrate, who granted the Attorney General’s request to remand him at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.

She also ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecution, Dr. Jide Martins for legal advice. She then adjourned to January 30, 2023 to await legal advice.

This comes a day after the Police Service Commission approved his suspension over the k#lling of Mrs Raheem.

“The commission, in a letter to the Inspector General of Police (I-G), signed by its acting Chairman, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, has carefully examined the facts of the case. It has granted the approval of the suspension of the officer from duty with immediate effect after observing allegations brought against him,” he said.
