At least one student di£d and several others sustained g¥n$hot inj¥ries after police officers allegedly op£ned fire on protesting students of Imo State Polytechnic in Umuagwo.
It was gathered that the unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, December 15, 2022.
According to reports, the students were protesting against what they tagged as ‘illegal arrest and ext%rtion’ by police officers when a team of officers escorting a bullion van suddenly op£ned fire on them.
Narrating what transpired, a student who spoke to Instablog9ja said: “Police officers from state CID will come to our school to arrest male students for no reason. And the worst part is, they don’t take them to their station, instead they drive them to nearly bushes where they ext%rted them by force.
This has been going on for a while and today, the student decided to stage a protest, only for some police officers escorting a bullion van to start sh@@ting directly at them.
One student has been confirmed de@d and about six others sustained inj¥ries.”
