A 200 level student of the Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA), Najib Umar Shehu, 25, has been arrested by the police in Katsina State in connection with the m#rder of his 60-year-old stepmother, Asiya Mohammed.
It was gathered that the suspect had a misunderstanding with the victim — a retired civil servant — on August 18, 2022, and att@cked her with a p€stle at their residence in Ambassador Quarters.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Isah Gambo, in a statement on Thursday, August 25, said: “He went into the kitchen, grabbed a p€stle, h#t her severally with it on her head and as a result of which she sustained head inj#ries and was confirmed de@d by a medical doctor.
In the spur of the moment, suspect also h#t his father severally with the said p€stle on his leg and sustained fracture into different places on his leg.
Suspect has been arrested and confessed to the commission of the offence. The said pestle has been recovered as exhibit. Investigation is ongoing.”
