A lady has recounted her horr#fic experience with a cable in Lagos
She said he ordered a Uber driver, from Lekki phase one on the 1st of July at 9:30pm to Chevron, who delay for about 25mins and later canceled the trip for another driver. When the driver finally came, she told him that she doesn’t like to keep late night and sho would appreciate if he speed up the drive.
When the drive was like 5mins, the driver told her that the trip has been ended and that she was to pay N400. She was surprised as she didn’t end the trip and the driver also denied ending it as the trip was supposed to be 35mins drive. So the driver told her to be calm and order him again. But what she discovered was that, as she trying to place an order, the driver was switched off the App, so she should not find him.
At this point she became suspicious, because she observed he was looking at her to see what she got and was also texting someone. She immediately told the driver she wanted to come down as she observed he has reduced the speed as though he was waiting for some people.
When she got down, she was trying to place another order for another cab, but while she did this she also snapped the plate number of the cab she came down from and send to her sister. While she was still waiting by the road side she saw three guys with machetes and knives shouting, ‘where is the lady’. So they accosted her behind the cab where she was standing and before they could do anything to her she threw her phone to them, since that’s the only valuable with her. When they bent down to pick the phone, she removed her shoes and started running.
As she was running, she quickly crossed to the other side of road but she met the bike man that brought the guys also carrying cutlass, so she cross back and continued running. As God we have it she ran into some police officers, who calmed her down and when she was about explaining what happened to them, the cab man started shouting that, he was the one that brought her and told her he would take her to a safe place but she declined. Then she also explained her part of the story and police said the situation should be reported at the police station.
Furthermore, the police officers said they are on an operation and that both of them should go and report themselves at the station. She declined going in the man’s car to the station if they would not be accompanied by the police, but they refused to agree with her, they only assured her nothing will happened to her.
While they were on this, a friend of her’s drove pass and stopped to see what was happening, so she left the place in his car.
