BEING BASED IN AMERICA HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY INVITATION INTO THE OSCARS ACADEMY – ACTOR DANIEL K DANIEL REVEALS

Multiple award-winning actor and star of “A Soldier’s Story” and “The Fugit#ve“, Daniel K Daniel who was one of only two Nollywood actors invited into membership of the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences, organizers of the Academy Awards and whose memebers are responsible for voting the winners of the highly coveted Oscar Awards, has revealed that his living in the United States of America for the past four years has no correlation to his being invited to the Academy.

In a series of now deleted Instagram stories, the 2016 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Award (AMVCA), Best Actor winner declared, “It’s so funny that when I moved to the US, people said I would become a security guard or work at McDonald’s! ? Now that I’m invited to the Academy, them still dey talk say na because I dey stay Yankee! E no correlate!!! Guys don’t h@te the player…h@te the game”
He, alongside Funke Akindele were the only Nollywood actors to be invited into the Academy in 2022, among the other invitees are 71 Oscar nominees, and 15 winners. Other notable names on the list include, singers Billie Eilish and Natalie Holt as well as “CODA” writer-director Sian Heder and “Drive My Car” director Ryusuke Hamaguchi, who incidentally won Oscars this year.
