Islamic cleric arrested for defr@uding his victims of N5.5m in Ogun State

An Islamic clergyman identified as Abdul Salami Yakub who specializes in defr@uding unsuspecting members of the public has been arrested.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relation Officer DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi in the state, the suspect was arrested following a written petition received by the Commissioner of Police from one Rukayat Ibrahim who reported that she was defr@uded of N4,775,000 by Yakub who pretended to have a spiritual solution to her daughter’s problem.

The Commissioner of Police, however, directed the monitoring team to go after the suspect who was eventually arrested and confessed to being a fr@udster. While the investigation was going on, another victim, Oluwaseun Ibrahim came up with a complaint that the suspect had earlier duped her of N700,000, which the suspect also confirmed.

Items recovered from the suspect’s house includes; masquerade he@d, assorted charms and magic pots. The PPRO advised Nigerians to be careful of whom they approach for spiritual solution to their problems.
