22-year-old fra#dster reportedly robs retiree of her gratuity, uses money to buy a car and motorcycle in Katsina .

One Aliyu Abdullahi, 22, is in police custody for allegedly defrauding an unsuspecting retiree of her gratuity, using her ATM card in Katsina State.

The suspect, while confessing to the crime, said he used part of the stolen money to buy himself a car and a motorcycle while he squandered the rest. The serial ATM fra#dster was said to have in the past been arrested and arraigned in court for the same offence but yet continued in the act unabated.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP. Isah Gambo, made the disclosure while parading the suspect before newsmen at the police command on Monday. According to him, “Based on a tip-off, the command succeeded in arresting one Aliyu Abdullahi, a serial ATM fra#dster, who specializes in defra#ding unsuspecting members of the public through ATM swap.

In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to have deceitfully swapped the ATM card of one Maryam Sale, and withdrew all her life time savings, including her gratuity, the sum of one million, eight hundred and forty-six thousand naira (N1,846,000).

The suspect, in the course of investigation confessed to committing the offence,saying that he bought one “Hennessy motor” at the rate of N500,000 and one motorcycle TVZ, at the rate of N323,000. However, the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand naira cash was recovered in his possession.”
