I po*soned my guardian because I want to return to my mom — 18-yr-old suspect .

The police in Ogun State have arrested an 18-year-old girl, identified as Tope Fasanya, over alleged attempted m*rder.

It was gathered that the SSS1 student allegedly tried to k*ll her guardian, one Mrs. Esther Bada, by po*soning her food.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was arrested following a complaint by the victim, who had reported that she became very uncomfortable with sharp stomach pain after eating the food served by her maid.

Speaking in a statement on Tuesday, December 14, Oyeyemi said, “When the pain was becoming so severe, she called the maid to come and eat the remaining food but she refused. This made her to suspect foul play on the part of the maid.

Upon the report, the victim was quickly taken to Owode Egba general hospital, from where she was referred to Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta for proper medical treatment. The suspect was subsequently arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect initially denied and she was transferred to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department, where she was said to have made a confessional statement that she actually added rat po*son substance to the victim’s food.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had been living with the woman since when she was in Primary Three, when the woman was her class teacher then.

Following the d*ath of her father, the victim, Mrs Bada reportedly volunteered to help the teenage girl by taking her in and sponsoring her education up till her present class.

When asked why she decided to k*ll her benefactor, the suspect who described the victim as a very caring person, said that she only wanted to return to her mother and she can only do that if her guardian is no more.”
