Operatives of the Ogun Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old man, Biodun Adebiyi, for allegedly b*ating a 30-years-old c!garette seller to d*ath over N50 balance.
It is reported that the suspect was arrested on Sunday, December 5, at his residence in Lagos. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state ,DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed this on Monday. He stated that the suspect was arrested following a report by the deceased’s father, Adamu Abubakar.
The complainant told the police that the suspect came to his shop at Ajegunle area of Idiroko to buy cigarettes and his son, Mukaila Adamu, attended to him. He stated further that the suspect later came back to the shop and demanded for his balance of N50.
According to him, this led to an argument between him and his son, and in the course of the argument, the suspect descended heavily on his son with blows. He explained that the victim collapsed immediately and he was rushed to hospital where he was confirmed d*ad.
The police’s spokesman said upon receipt of the report, the police visited the crime scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested.
He said corpse of the deceased has been deposited at mortuary for autopsy.
