Two cousins were on Sunday evening, August 29, reportedly struck d*ad by lightning in Ikirun, Osun State.
It was gathered that the cousins were sent on an errand when the unfortunate incident occurred at the Ogo-Oluwa area of Orisa Elejin community.
A resident, Mary Ojuolape, who spoke with TheNation said, “They were crossing a school football field around the Ogo-Oluwa area when they were struck down by lightning.”
The Chairman of the Ifelodun Local Government Area, Hassan Okanlawon, who confirmed the incident, said the girls were found d*ad on the playground of an Arabic school after lightning struck, during a light rain.
“On their way, lightning struck them and they both d*ed on the spot. They were living with their grandmother. One of them was from Delta State and the other, Ondo State. I was told that we could not immediately remove their bodies. They said Sango adherents must perform some rites. I was informed that some Sango worshippers from Ede were on their way to the scene,” he said. [Swipe]
