A member of a kidnapping gang in Owo, Ondo state, has been sleeping since Sunday evening, even before his arrest.
The suspect who had slept for over 24 hours after his arrest at the scene of the operation, was suspected to have taken a large quantity or dose of drugs suspected to be Tramadol.
Speaking on the arrest of the suspect, who was paraded while still sleeping, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph, explained that the suspect and his gang members had invaded a Pharmacy store in Owo to kidnap the owner of the store before he fell asleep.
Joseph explained that the three-man gang invaded the store with a gun, with the intention to kidnap the owner who raised alarm and escaped through the back door.
According to Ondo PPRO, the armed men came out of the shop only to meet one of the customers who was on his way to buy drugs and subsequently seized his motorcycle at gunpoint.
He explained that two of the kidnappers escaped with the motorcycle which they brought to the scene of the operation while the arrested suspect mounted on the stolen motorcycle
He said “the arrested suspect tried to go away with the motorcycle, but stumbled while he was trying to ride the motorcycle and he was apprehended and has been sleeping ever since then.
The suspect was said to have slept for more than 24 hours after his arrest, while a 400mg tablet of tramadol was recovered from his pocket.
