Today, an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, ordered the remand of Blessing Fred at Kirikiri Prison, for stabbing her 7-year-old son, Promise, at the back.The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, gave the order after she
pleaded guilty and adjourned the case till Sept. 23 for sentencing. Blessing, a stylist, who lives at No.12, Tunde Olushola St., Ijaiye, Lagos, was arraigned on a two-count charge of assault and grievous harm.
The prosecutor, Insp. Rachael Williams, told the court that the offenses were committed on July 13, at their residence. Williams said that Blessing acted on her neighbor’s complaint that Promise dragged her 5-year-old daughter inside the room, removed her pants and touched her private part. .
“Blessing was angry, beat Promise severally and stabbed him at the back with a broken bottle. If not for the intervention of neighbors who rushed him to a nearby hospital, he would have died as a result of bleeding from the wound,’’ she said…… Blessing faces up to 102 years in prison if d Magistrate wants to bless her accordingly…..
