On Sunday morning, two female students of the University of Benin, Ugbowo campus, were knocked down by an Army Vehicle with the inscription “Thunder Storm Patrol 28″ while they were crossing the Lagos/Benin Expressway in
front of the school gate.
One of them, a 200-level student of the Department of Philosophy, Halim Rita Awele, died almost immediately while the other one is currently lying in a hospital in critical condition. Students of the university have now taken to the streets to demand for speed breakers and a flyover bridge to prevent reoccurrence because the road has claimed so many lives…..R.I.P Rita……
