Rukayat fell victim of the fraudster at the GTB in Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos. According to her: “A man dressed in a corporate outfit approached me while on a queue with other depositors. He claimed to be an official of the bank and demanded if I
had a bank verification number, to which I answered no.
He collected the money for ease of the transaction and gave me a Verification Form to fill. While I moved away to fill the form, the man went to the counter and was talking to a teller. By the time I was done, the fake bank official had gone.” Ruqayat, bursted into tears inside the banking hall with her mouth raised to the heavens.
A security guard eventually ushered her out of the bank. While sobbing, she said: “I work at a phone retail shop. The money belongs to my boss. I have just been employed for 2 weeks and I don’t know where to get a refund for her.”…… a Good Samaritan eventually gave her Buhari’s direct phone number……
