According to Nwaokoma Thomas Izuchukwu, who covered the incidence, it was a dirty sight yesterday at Ozar secondary school, Asa, Abia State when a student who was sent home by a teacher, Mrs Njoku, to barb her hair, regrouped with her family members to attack teachers and students.
The JSS 2 student, Precious Nwadike, had earlier been warned by same teacher 2 weeks ago to barb her hair but she did not heed to the warning. On arrival to school yesterday, she was asked to go home and barb her hair, she left immediately only to
return later with her mom and 4 of her siblings who marched straight to the staff room where they commanded the teachers to come out.
Her mother, Mrs Nwadike, held a teacher, pulled her cloth and ordered her sons to cut her hair. The intervention of another teacher, Mrs Osuagwu, provoked the sons and one of them, Uche, knotted and almost strangled her. It soon degenerated into a free for all fight as other students intervened.
An NYSC member serving in the school had to alert military personnels to restore order. Wounded students and teachers were taken to the hospital. And the military men eventually apprehended the Nwadikes….. as those who survived d attack thanked God by tearfully mouthing “omema eh ebube dike ebube dike”…….
