University staff allegedly kills wife over inheritance, sex denial, then rapes her dead body

Manu (Usman) Umar, a staff of the  ICT Department, Federal University Dutsin-ma, Katsina, has allegedly confessed to killing his wife, Fatima Ibrahim, 32, a teacher at Zubairu Pilot Primary school, Dutsin-ma, who was discovered dead in bed on the 1st of April, 2016, with blood trickling from her mouth, and bruises on one side of her face.

The couple had a 3-year-old son. According to Fatima’s family, trouble started for Fatima when her father, Alhaji Ibrahim Habibu, died and she inherited his wealth. He was until his death a regional manager with a major bank in Sokoto. Manu allegedly went all-out to get Fatima’s share of the inheritance.

About 7 months ago, she was said to have reported to her uncle about her husband’s changing attitude and the family had to intervene. After a while she complained again. It was at this point that she chose to move out of the house but he still visits on the pretence of wanting to see his son.

But while explaining why and how he killed Fatima, Manu said their problem started when he brought back his first wife that he had initially divorced. He said that Fatima told him that she will not allow any sexual intercourse to occur between them until both him and the wife get tested for STD since according to Fatima, his first wife is being suspected to have been sleeping around after he divorced her, a request he rejected.

This is how Fatima then packed out of his house. He said, after she refused some attempt to have sex with her, he then decided to force himself on her, which led to her death. He also narrated how he repeatedly banged her head on the floor until she couldn’t struggled anymore.

He then satisfied himself. “By then, she is already dead” he said. He then cleaned her-up and changed her clothes. The State Commissioner of Police, Abdullahi Usman, confirmed the incident and said investigation has opened up on the matter. Fatima bagged a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.
