A secret interview given by Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the recaptured Mexican drug kingpin, to the American actor Sean Penn helped authorities locate his whereabouts, according to a Mexican law-enforcement official. The
interview held in late 2015 in a hideout in Mexico.

Authorities aborted an earlier raid because Guzman was with two women and a child. But they were able to track him to Los Mochis, Sinaloa, where he was captured on Friday. Penn had traveled in secret through the Mexican jungle to meet with Chapo.

He was surrounded by more than 100 cartel troops during the interview. Penn says he went to extreme measures to maintain secrecy while communicating with El Chapo’s people to set the interview up, using burner phones and avoiding contact with federal agents.

Upon meeting Penn, Chapo consented an interview at a later time. Ultimately, it proved impossible to do the interview in-person, but Penn sent questions by BBM device and Chapo agreed to record his responses on videotape.

In the interview, Chapo admitted that drugs destroy people but he started doing drugs, aged 15, because there was no job opportunities where he grew up and up till now, there still isn’t any.

When asked whether he is responsible for the high level of drug addiction in the world, he responds: “No, that is false, because the day I don’t exist, it’s not going to decrease in any way at all. Drug trafficking? That’s false.”…. cuz boys r nt smiling…..
