The Federal High Court in Abuja has declined the bail application filed by suspended deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Abba Kyari, who was arrested by operatives of the National Dr#g Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), over allegation of dr#g traff!cking.
Recall that the NDLEA had on February 14, 2022 confirmed that the embattled Kyari was in its custody after it declared the cop wanted for allegedly aiding and abetting dr#g pushing and running his own dr#g cartel.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a ruling on Monday, February 21, ordered Kyari to serve the respondent – the Federal Republic of Nigeria – with the processes filed and adjourned till February 24.
Justice Ekwo’s ruling was on an ex-parte motion argued on Monday by Kyari’s lawyer, Cynthia Obianuju Ikena, who based her client’s request for bail on health grounds.
