In a tactical bid to rescue the kidnapped students and officials of the Nigeria-Turkish International School, Isheri, Ogun State, the police high command has picked two of the suspected masterminds of the abduction.

Apart from the ringleaders, Philip Kakadu, aka General Kakadu, 29 and Romeo Council, aka Raw, 40, other suspects were also said to be undergoing screening in connection with the abduction.

They were apprehended in Warri, Delta State. Some gunmen had stormed the NTIC last Friday through a hole dug under the school fence and headed for the female hostel, where three pupils were abducted.

A Turkish teacher, a supervisor, a matron and two intending candidates of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, who worked in the school, were also whisked away by the assailants.

The kidnappers had contacted the matron’s husband and demanded N100m. However, operatives said they were exercising restraints to storm the possible locations of the suspects in the creeks in order not to endanger the lives of the victims.

Kakadu described the Nigerian Turkish International School, abduction, as a “Joint Operation” among 3 separate gangs of kidnappers, and said he contributed 5 of his men towards the success of the operation.

He confessed to have 24 Ak47 rifles in creeks in Lagos and another cache of arms in creeks in Delta State. IRT operatives are hopeful that Kakadu will be the bait, to catch others and rescue the victims.

The arrest of Kakadu was said to have elicited shouts of jubilation among policemen. Kakadu has been on Police Wanted list for over four years now. He was behind series of high profile kidnap cases in Lagos, Ogun and other states.
