19-year-old Nigerian footballer drowns while swimming in U.S

Fikayo Idowu, 19, of Madison, Mississippi, and an Ohio State’s men’s soccer player, drowned while swimming with some of his teammates at at Apple Valley Lake in Knox County, about 40 miles northeast of the campus, on Friday.

He had been on the Ohio State soccer team as a defender since 2014. Idowu was majoring in health and rehabilitation sciences at Ohio State and wanted to go to medical school. He also was a two-time Ohio State scholar-athlete award winner.
