New slave? Italian workshop supervisor chains worker for failing to complete task

According to multiple news outlets in Ghana, yesterday, an Italian workshop supervisor at Gateway Logistics Ltd, Manilo Maggiorotto, has provoked anger, after chaining one of his subordinates, Ibrahim Sanou, to a container in the hot sun as punishment for failing to complete a task assigned him.

Maggiorotto allegedly said that whenever he assigned work to Sanou, he abandoned his and found ways of helping others to do their work. Therefore, the best way to prevent a recurrence was to chain him. Angry employees of the multinational logistics company, have appealed to the Ghanaian government to ensure that Sanou gets justice.
