Yesterday, an Egor Magistrates Court, sentenced Rotimi Olayemi, an English teacher at King of Kings College, Edo State, to 1 year imprisonment for assaulting a 13-year-old female student within the school premises. He was found guilty on 4 count charges bothering on unlawful assault.
He committed the crime on May 26, 2014. Prosecuting counsel, Osasu Ewemande, said Olayemi, a 47-year-old father-of-three, usually invites his victims to his office where he hugs, kisses, fondles and puts his hand on their private part.
He was arrested after some people noticed how female students spent longer hours in his office. Presiding Magistrate, Igho Braimoh, sentenced him to one year on each count with an option of fine of N50,000 on each count. The prison terms would run concurrently.
