Precious Naza Onyenanu, a 2015 Economics Education graduate of Imo State University and a native of Isu, Imo State was allegedly butchered by Ephraim Isom, 27, a graduate of Rivers State University of
Science and Technology, who hails from Andoni, Rivers State.
The murder took place in a hotel in Rukpokwu, Port Harcourt. They met in 2012, when Ephraim was posted to Imo State for NYSC. On December 5, 2015, Precious’ father sent her to PH to go and bring her sister, Mrs Ezinne Blessing Godswill, to Imo State, to spend the 2015 yuletide with the family.
Precious saw it as an opportunity to see and spend some time with Ephraim. Unknown to her, Ephraim who had professed undying love for her, was also secretly nursing an evil plan against her, and looking for an opportunity to execute it.
He booked a room in a hotel at Rukpokwu, where he eventually murdered her and disappeared. Detectives in Rivers swung into action and approached Precious’s GSM service provider to obtained the call log so as to know the last person she communicated with.
With that, Ephraim was identified as the person who last spoke to her and also sent an SMS to her, describing the bus stop where she should alight and the name of the hotel where they would lodge. He was then traced and arrested.
His house was searched and two handsets belonging to Precious, were found. But in an effort to cover the crime, Ephraim deleted all the contacts in the handsets, which he also claimed belonged to him.
The police then took them to the service provider, who restored the deleted contacts and call log. It was after the contacts were restored that the police saw the SMS Ephraim sent to Precious telling her the bus stop to alight at Rukpokwu.
