Agbo Odeh Hillary, 30, has made history by becoming the first ever First Class graduate from the department of Psychology, Benue State University. He got admission into the university in 2005, to study Physics instead
of Medicine and Surgery which he wanted.
He struggled with the course due to lack of interest. By the end of his third year in school, he was at the bottom of the class, with 17 carryovers and was on probation. But instead of waiting to be expelled, he went to sit for another UTME.
He applied for Psychology and by the end of 400 level second Semester in Physics, he was admitted to study Psychology. Hillary, the worst student in Physics Department, ended up being the best student in Psychology Department, finishing with a CGPA of 4.57.
Not only did he break the record of becoming the first “First Class” graduate of the Department, since the inception of the University in 1992. He also emerged the overall best graduating student of the university.
He ended up bagging 7 academic awards, including the Tony and Awele Elumelu price for excellence. He attributed his success to God and one day, dreams of becoming a professor of clinical psychology and a preacher of God’s Word.
