In November 2014, police seized 1,600 bags of heroin and arrested Lamarr McDow with two other men. He was charged with conspiracy to traffic heroin and as the amount is over 28g, in North Carolina, it carries a
minimum sentence of 225 months ( 18.75 years ).

Marie Holmes, a single mother-of-four, saw her life transformed in February, 2015 when she hit the Powerball jackpot. By that time, McDow, her boyfriend, was already in jail. After receiving her payment of $88m after taxes, she bailed him out with $3m.

He then moved in with her to a $350k newly built home she had bought. In August 2015 she posted a further $6m bail after he was arrested for breaking the conditions of a pre-trial release program.

And on Jan. 1, 2016, she paid a further $12m when McDow was arrested on charges of being involved in an illegal street race. She has also set McDow up in an auto repair business and bought him a $15k diamond encrusted gold Rolex watch. He also wears a chunky gold and diamond bracelet and drives a new pickup truck.

McDow said prior to Holmes’s lottery win he had helped to support her while she was living in a modular home with her 4 children and her mother. He added that: “We are a couple, and I am the father of her youngest child. This is what people do for each other. She has the money and she can do what she wants with it.

If I had that money then I would do the same for her. People are just jealous because of how much she won and people want to see me locked in jail. People can say what they like and it don’t hurt us. She is standing by her man.”….. tongue out……
