The FG has stopped the payment of N65k monthly stipends to former militants in the Niger Delta region, through leaders of the ex-militants and has now commenced the direct payment, with the payment of the 3
months arrears owed them.
The decision to pay them directly followed reports of complicity and short-changing of some of them by their leaders. Reports revealed that some of them were paid as low as N20k out of the N65k which does not conform with the mandate of the amnesty program.
Henceforth, payment would be made directly to each beneficiary with focus to eliminate cases of fraud and short-changing by their leaders. Similarly, the decision will enable the FG to collect biometrics of beneficiaries….. N65k is too much for those boys…..
