The Commissioner of Health of Taraba State, Innocent Vakkai, has confirmed that one person has died while two other people have been quarantined. The public are advised not to panic over the outbreak because
the state government had responded promptly to it.
This is coming shortly after the government reported an outbreak of Lassa fever in the state. People usually get infected with the Lassa Virus after exposure to infected rodents, while person to person transmission occurs through direct contact with the sick person.
