An Indiana school teacher married Jesus Christ over the weekend, becoming a consecrated virgin in an elaborate white wedding. Jessica Hayes, a 38-year-old theology teacher, donned a long white dress and lace veil while
tying the knot before hundreds of guests at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne.
Standing at the altar as a bride of Christ, she vowed a life of virginity and was given a ring, as well as a book of daily prayers. “I had been praying about it for years, trying to seek God’s will for my life and not really finding it in any of the paths that I sought before,” she said.
Consecrated virgins are a rare group within the Catholic Church. Worldwide there are approximately 3,000 and more than 200 in the U.S. Hayes said she hoped word of her holy matrimony may inspire or educate others, especially those who may not have heard of this life before and may consider it for themselves….. she promised not to flaunt her marriage on social media so dt it won’t crash…..
